April Situation Report (Updated)

Requests for assistance:
April 20,2009 Boston Marathon
Have ELEVEN operators leaving and travelling to Boston Area on a Bus provided by First Student and "piloted" by Bob, K1AX.  This group will receive coordinating instructions in the next 10 days.
Aug 8, 2009 Multiple Sclerosis Foundation Bikeathon.
NEED approximately 4 operators and a net control station.  The area of operations is Durham, Portsmouth, Eliot, Me, and Dover.  This would be a great opportunity to utilize the PCARC 440 repeater as it covers the entire area.
Sept. 18-19 Reach The Beach Relay
This is the Annual NHARES communications event.  Last year we supported three rest stops, this year we are doubling that commitment.  If you are interested in assisting, Dave Colter needs your shirt/jacket size by April 15.

Pending Issues:
Monthly meeting did not occur in March.  We were unable to come to an agreeable meeting location in time for the meeting to be scheduled.  Pete, W1CBT has scheduled a meeting for April 15 at the PCARC clubhouse.  A email containing the itinerary  for that meetingis being worked on now.

My ARRL membership lapsed and as such my ability to serve as EC was called to the front.( The ARRL requires all ARES appointments from EC and above to be current members).  As of Friday, my membership dues were in transit to CT.

Communications Infrastructure updates:
6M:    There is a new 6M repeater coming online in the near future.  Anyone with a VX7 should be able to use it without difficulty.  There are a few pieces of equipment needed to get this repeater operational, if any one of you has any of these items sitting in your shack unused, drop me a line:
Diplexer (commonly erroneously referred to as a duplexer)1.3-150MHz one one port and 300-540MHz on the other.
Triplexer, HF+6 one one port, 100-300MHz on the second, and 320-500 MHz on the third.
Winlink:    We have received the software and password to get W1ROC-10 on the air from Steve, KB8MAN's home.  Scheduling has been the only set back to getting this fully operational.  Frequency to be used: 145.010.  This endeavor is being undertaken to facilitateWinlink usage by ARES during an emergency activation.
Local FULL serviceBBS:    Rick, N1ZXZ has begun development of a local full service BBS.  It appears to be off air currently.  Rick has received a 50W radio from K1JCJ to get this going.  I will be programming the radio in the next few weeks. Frequency to be used: 145.010.  This endeavor is being undertaken to facilitate Outpost Software usage by ARES during an emergency activation.
2M:    The 145.370 ARES repeater is currently off air.  I will be working on getting it back on the air IN SEABROOK with remote receive site so that a duplexer is not needed.  It will NOT be deployable in this configuration.
