Holiday Dinner Plans

Ladies and Gents, next week the 6th of December is our planned Potluck Dinner/Holiday Party. In order for the Potluck Dinner portion to run smoothly, it is hoped that each member can bring along something to contribute. Please use the "Comment" link at the end of this post to make know what savory dish or dessert you will be brining along. Please plan according to the items you see posted by others ( i.e. lets not have 37 apple pies!). There will be NO BUSINESS conducted during this informal club get-together, just socializing and good cheer. As always, guests and significant others are welcome!

New Meeting Year - September 6

Meeting time is here again! This year promises to be an exciting one with a pileup of topics and activities taking shape. The first meeting of the 2006-2007 season is Wednesday September 6, 2006 at the clubhouse in Greenland, NH. Chef KA1GJU's triumphant return starts with a BBQ dinner at 6pm, with club meeting to follow at 7:30pm.

As is customary, the Club Treasurer will be collecting dues, so please be sure to bring along funds to take care of your membership. Membership cards will be issued, and remember that part of our agreement with the Fish and Game Club requires that PCARC members using the clubhouse must display their PCARC membership card. Deuce had some nice lanyard holders last season - he may still have some available. Dues will remain at $30 for the 2006-2007 meeting year. In past years collection of dues has often continued into December - we ask that you remember that dues are the primary source of income for the Club, and now that we have the space commitment it is important that dues are paid on time so we dont get evicted at gunpoint (!). Seriously, timely dues payment keeps things working smoothly. OK, enough with the dues, on to the entertainment portion of our program...

Please read on for some important details on the 2006-2007 meeting year...

Congrats to New Techs

Congratulations to the Fall 2005 Technician Class students who have passed their exams and are now the proud owners of the following callsigns:

KB1MVW  Venkata Korada
KB1MVU  Giff Hammar
KB1MVV  Patricia Hammar
KB1MVT  Jimmy Macionski
KB1MWB  Jim Bray
KB1MWA  Paul Kenyon

You guys did a great job, and we all look forward to hearing you on the air and seeing you at Club meetings and events. Two students have already asked for some advice on purchasing an HT - I suggest Club members bring their HT's to the December Meeting/Party on Dec. 7th and we can offer our insights on the various models we own to the "newbies".

Welcome to ham radio!

Holiday Party Plans

Our annual Holiday gathering will be held in lieu of our monthly meeting on December 7, 2005 at 6pm at the Piscataqua Fish and game Club in Greenland, NH. We have planned to do a pot-luck dinner, so the idea is to bring a dish of your choice to share with the group. Significant others and guests are welcome.

Please click the "Comment" link below and tell us what you plan to bring for a dish. In this way we can keep duplications to a minimum (plus we get to salivate over the menu beforehand!).

K1R (PCARC) WINS Field Day Class 5A !!!

Here is the link to our soapbox (previously printed) and the top scorers in
this past June's Field Day.

Not sure what the 5AB is (QRP/Battery) for the KP2AA that is ahead of us but last years winner was K4BFT and we BEAT THEM!  Looks like the PCARC took top honors in Field Day 2005 in the 5A category.  Our vision to win 4A and now 5A has been completed.  What next guys!  Congrats to everyone that helped in the smallest way.  Great job, and it looks like our Bonus Points were our secret to success (along with all those contacts)!  Not sure also why we are listed twice either!

Regards,

Mark, K1RX

BIG Thanks to W1AM

Thanks to a generous donation from Art, W1AM of Durham, the Club has acquired a 48 ft. self-supporting HBX style tower, a 80/40m vertical, and a near new TH7DXX tribander for use at the Club station. A team of hams, including Art W1AM, Tom AB1CL, Mark K1RX, Kriss KA1GJU, Roger KB1MNT, Chris K1FOO and Larry W8LM saw to the safe dismantling and removal of antennas and tower. Kriss and Mark did the "sky work" while Tom and Chris dodged falling tools (ahem!) below and manned the heaving line, while Larry and Roger carefully disassembled the antennas. Tom brought along his "super sawzall" (cutting torch!) and cut the remaining steel well below the ground level - no danger of twisted mower blades there! Newbie Roger, KB1MNT was duly impressed to hear that W1AM has had his ticket for 70 years - how many members do we have that can boast that kind of longevity in the hobby? Maybe that will be a quiz question for the next meeting...

Not wanting W1AM to be totally off the air, FOO and GJU agreed to return this fall and help Art get a skywire up in the quite tall trees on his property. Thanks again Art!
